Every week I tell the story behind a photograph featuring the portrait of a person that made me smile or scream out to the world, “You go, you!”. Sometimes they’re about capturing a moment, other times they’re about the story that surrounds it. To see more Portraits Around the World, click here.
I have to confess, I kind of feel like I overdid it with the pictures at the Busan Lotus Lantern Festival. I was all up on the stage, next to the stage, in front of the stage. But I couldn’t help it! I was so blown away by everything the entire day, from the handmade paintings on the lanterns, to the dancers in colorful costumes.
This lady drummer in the picture above, though, she was the best part of the event. She just went for it, in the kind of way we should all go for it when it comes to the things we love to do. It was very evident that this was her passion. She loved the hell out of that drum, and so much positivity radiated off of her that I couldn’t take my eyes away. The whole audience, monks and all, was entranced.
There were other talented people in her crew, in fact there was another girl who was also giving it all her might. They were all great, but I have to say it, she was better. She just was.
