Hey there! My name is Neysha and welcome to Travelsuras; I’m so happy you’re here. It makes my day to know that you’ve gotten something out of this website, so please don’t hesitate to leave a comment!
I’m a 24 year old Dominican-American who’s in love with seeing the world. I’m a fan of messy adventures, travel focused DIY projects, and taking lots of photos. You can read more about what this blog is about here, and if you’re new to the site, check out our start here page.
Where Have You Traveled to?
I like to say that I fell in love with traveling from the back seat of a 1991 Astro Van when I was 1 years old. To be honest, it’s not an inaccurate statement. My crazy family of four drove from the middle of the United States to the very bottom of Central America, death roads and all, in this van that was basically another child to us.
I was born in Guatemala and was raised between Nicaragua, Panama, and Puerto Rico in a bilingual household to a Dominican mother and an American father. Spanish is my first language, es verdad, but that didn’t stop me from becoming and English teacher in South Korea, where I’ve lived for the last year.
I’ve been to twenty three countries, three continents, thirty-five US states, and counting. To see the destinations I’ve written about, click here.
Why Start this Blog?
Simply put, I love creating things! I rarely leave the house without some sort of a camera and often times my fingers are full of paint. I wanted to show the magic of travel the best way I know how, and hopefully inspire others to see the world, either in their backyard or across oceans. No one type of travel is better than another.
The purpose of Travelsuras is to show the wonderful experiences wanders have on the road, capturing moments we don’t want to forget, and encapsulating them once you’ve returned home with DIY projects. I don’t know about you, but my future home will be full of the memories I’ve made around the world, handmade crafts by talented (and often under paid) artists who deserve to be celebrated, and lots of colors.
My Travel Philosophy
I’ve gone from not knowing if I’m normal for wanting an out-of-the-box lifestyle, to knowing that I want to make travel a priority in my life. I’ve visited 23 countries in 23 years, but my ultimate mantra when it comes to seeing the world is quality over quantity. I love to take my time, and I’m usually the straggler in the back of a group taking 50 pictures of a single view.
